NAPLES, Fla. (WTVA/NBC) -- A 3-year-old girl, who captured the nation's attention after being mauled by a dog and after her family claimed she was kicked out of a restaurant because her scars were disturbing other customers, is now in Florida waiting to receive a prosthetic eye.

Victoria Wilcher and her family are in Naples, Florida, for a full week visiting with ocularist Raymond Peters.

Peters is fitting Wilcher with a new series of eyes.

She lost her right eye after she was mauled by a pitbull.

Her grandmother claims scars from the attack got them kicked out of a Mississippi KFC.

Even though the restaurant chain says there's no evidence that story is true and many people call it a hoax, others are still offering to help the child, including Peters, for as long as she needs them.
