BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Booneville alderman is accused of hitting a man with a stick during an altercation Friday night.

Sheriff Randy Tolar says his department was asked by Booneville police to look into an incident involving Mark McCoy on July 4.

According to a sheriff's department report, Joey Windham accused McCoy of coming to his home on Pinehill Road.

The report says both men poked each other in the face before McCoy left.

Windham says McCoy returned later and parked down the road from Windham's home.

He says when he walked down toward McCoy, he was hit with a stick.

Tolar says no charges have been filed in the case so far.

He says any charges filed would be at the request of Windham.
