AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Amory Police Chief Ronnie Bowen says he has yet to be told why his position is being changed from an elected one to an appointed one.
Tuesday night, all but one of the Amory Board of Alderman voted to make this change.
The matter was first discussed in executive session and then came up for a vote.
Amory Mayor Howard Boozer says other cities already appoint police chiefs.
When asked if the public should have been given time to voice their opinion on this issue, Mayor Boozer declined to comment.
The Board of Alderman have been asked to comment on this story.
