AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - It's a dream come true for one north Mississippian as the city of Amory held a swearing-in ceremony Sunday.
The new mayor, accompanied by his family and friends, was officially sworn into office in front of a packed audience at the Gilmore Foundation Center.
Brad Blalock succeeds Howard Boozer and the new mayor says with the experience that the board of aldermen has, it should help make for a smooth transition.
"It's great to have experience and wisdom to draw upon, for those that you surround yourself with. I think I have a great board to work with. Each have their own unique talents in certain areas, so I look forward to drawing upon those and using that wisdom and experience that they have and enabling me to help them make decisions for the benefit of Amory," Blalock said.
Blalock becomes the 22nd mayor for the city of Amory.
Police Chief Ronnie Bowen and four aldermen were sworn in Sunday also, as well as an alderman at large.
