NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- The investigation continues into the deaths of a New Albany couple found in the home Sunday afternoon.
Police Chief Chris Robertson says the bodies of Carroll, 78, and Patricia Mason, 77, were found by officers around 3 p.m. inside the couple's home on East Shady Lane.
Robertson says the door to the home was open and the couple had apparently been dead for some time.
He says their bodies have been carried to Jackson for an autopsy they hope will be conducted Monday afternoon.
Robertson says the findings should help them determine a cause of their deaths and a time of death.
He says investigators have found no sign of forced entry into the home, but are not ruling anything out in their deaths.
Robertson says the Mason's had lived in the home for several years.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Union County Sheriff's Department and the investigator with the Third Judicial District Attorney General is assisting with the investigation.
