TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Guntown man faces arson charges after he called 9-1-1 to report he set fire to a home in the Alpine community Thursday afternoon.

Sheriff Jim Johnson says Joshua Pate, 20, was arrested shortly after he reported setting the fire around 4:30 p.m.

Johnson says Pate was released from prison two weeks ago and was apparently looking for someone he had been involved in an altercation with while incarcerated.

He says Pate set fire to the home because he thought that was where the person lived.

Johnson says the home was a rental property and was not occupied.

Firefighters responded quickly to the scene and the damage to the home was minimal.

A Lee County Justice Court judge set bond at $20,000.

The Mississippi Department of Corrections also placed a hold on Pate.
