ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA)--A tragic incident is reported in Alcorn County.
Chief Investigator Tommy Hopkins says the sheriff's department received a phone call around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday night from a woman who became concerned after she read a disturbing message on a friend's Facebook page.
An officer was sent out to Farmington Apartments on County Road 200 and discovered a 51-year-old man dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
His 11-year-old son was also shot and transported to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.
The boy is listed in critical condition.
The man's body is being sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
Hopkins says they are investigating this case as an attempted murder, suicide.
