Summer officially began across the area on Wednesday.  Today is the first full day of Summer.  Complaints about the hot weather have increased by great leaps and bounds over the last few weeks.  Well, once again this is Mississippi and Alabama and this is Summer . . . . . What else does one expect?  The forecast for the next several days includes most high temperatures in the 90s and most heat index values in the 95 to 105 range.  Yes, I agree, that is hot.  However, it is not oppressive.

For those that have been wondering if we are or have been breaking any records with these temperatures.  The answer is No.  We are not really near any record breaking material in the near future.  (FYI 90 to 91 is normal for this time of year)  Record high temperatures for this time of year rank in the 100 to 104 degree category.  So we have seen many years much hotter than what we have seen in the last several days and will see in the near future.

By the way, relief will be in the form of a few showers and thundershowers, mainly on our Friday.  These will be few and far in between.  There is no real relief to be found in the near future.
