Get ready for another beautiful day across the region! A few high clouds will continue to stream in from the west into the Lower Mississippi Valley today, but mostly sunny skies and dry conditions will prevail. The ridge of high pressure that has kept us sunny and dry over the past several days, will continue shifting east today. Southeasterly winds around the periphery of the high will aid in warming highs today above average for this time of year and will increase moisture across the area, though humidity levels will stay in check. High temperatures this afternoon will mainly be in the mid 80s. Tonight expect another mostly clear night as temperatures cool off into the mid 50s.
Mainly sunny and dry conditions will persist through Sunday, thanks still to the influence of the strong ridge of high pressure, that will be centered to our east. Highs will stay in the mid 80s Friday, before slightly cooling into the low 80s Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows will remain steady and mild, in the mid 50s. A pattern change is expected early next week, as the ridge of high pressure starts to break down. Computer models continue to show an area of low pressure developing around the Florida Strait this weekend. Models track the low northward, possibly impacting portions of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic early to mid week. There are currently a lot of discrepancies with the models and the solutions with this feature, therefore the rainfall forecast is quite questionable. Mississippi and Alabama may get some moisture on the western edge of the low, but our best rain chances look to come later in the week, as a disturbance will be approaching from the west.
