Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be the rule for most of Mississippi and Western Alabama for the next several days. We will see an increase in coverage later in the weekend. Most of the activity in our area for today and Friday will be the heat of the day variety. A stronger thunderstorm cannot be ruled out of the question, however most of the activity will stay below severe weather levels. The main culprits with these storms will be locally heavy rainfall and some cloud to ground lightning. The real heavy duty severe weather for the next few days will be closer to a frontal system in the Central US. That front will lag its way our way by the weekend. That will increase our chances for rain and storms. However, the frontal system will lose some of its punch and we will not see the category of severe weather over the weekend, as they are seeing currently to our west. Still, it would be a good idea to be weather alert for this weekend.
Temperatures for the most part will stay in the 80s for highs, however a few towns could reach into the 90s. Most of our overnight lows should stay in the 60s and 70s.
