Showers continue to move across North Mississippi this morning associated with a cold front that is moving through the region. The shower activity will be mainly light to moderate in nature, with some brief heavier downpours possible. Rain will gradually end from west to east throughout the morning hours and by noon, expecting everyone to be dry. Low clouds may linger into the early afternoon hours, but gradual clearing will persist, with some decent sunshine anticipated for most. Despite breaking out into some sunshine, a gusty northwesterly wind will ensue, as cooler and drier air filters in behind the front. Therefore don't expect a warm up later today, most high temperatures were reached just after midnight or early this morning and will continue to slowly cool or remain steady for much of the day in the 50s. Get ready for a chilly night tonight, with temperatures cooling down into the upper 30s, as high pressure builds into the Lower Mississippi River Valley, making way for clear skies.
Thursday will be a beautiful Fall day, with sunny skies, but high temperatures will only warm into the mid to upper 50s, with cooler air in place. Thursday night will be the coldest night of the next several, as temperatures will get down to around freezing and possibly slightly below in some of the normally colder spots. Frost is likely Thursday night into Friday morning, so make sure to protect those plants that are sensitive to the cold. Veteran's Day will be another gorgeous day, with plentiful sunshine and a warming trend will start, with highs in the low 60s. The warming trend will continue into the weekend as high pressure slides east and a southerly wind returns. High temperatures Saturday will be in the mid 60s and by Sunday in the low 70s! So make sure to enjoy another beautiful Fall weekend! Our next best chance for rain currently looks to be Tuesday of next week.
