a man there is dead..after a shooting that happened around lunch time today, authorities tell wtva the shooting happened near the corner of progress and fifth street. at this time, the age and name of the victim has not been released. we've reached out to the coroner for more information...but have yet to hear back. the chief says they are still putting together what happened during this deadly incident...no suspect information was released. a story we first brought to you last night.... an officer involved in a pursuit was taken to the hospital.... our very own taylor smith was in boonville today to find out more about the incident. rebecca i spoke with authorities today and they said not much will be released for the next couple of days.... i am here right now on hatchie street where police were originally called to.... town you can't hide vo: booneville police chief micheal ramey reports the officers were called to hatchie street for a domestic violence situation around 2:45in the morning on saturday it then resulted in a chase down these dark windy roads. residents in the area are concerned for officers saftey in these chases.... sot: "this puts police officers in danger too because they can't see what's going on around them cause they are focused on trying to catch up with the guy. then they can't see some kid hop in the middle of the road. game over." vo: ramey says the accident then happened on county road near highway four, west of boonville. residents i have spoken too say they heard the officers car flipped over.... and the suspect then got away. sot: " they'll catch whoever it is. it's just a matter of time. it's a small town you can't hide. police did catch site of the suspect and the vehicle he was in and they are looking for him. the officer who was hurt has been released from the north mississippi medica center in tupelo and the residents i have spoke with who knew him say they saw on social mexia that he was recovering well. live in booneville taylor smith wtva nine
