as this monday evening gets underway a few widely scattered to scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be present. one or two of these storms could be strong and perhaps even briefly severe. storms will probably heavy rainfall (which could in an isolated instance or two produce localized flash flooding), lots of lightning, and perhaps some small hail and isolated damaging gusts of wind. storm intensity and coverage is expected to gradually diminish as the evening progresses. a rogue showers or storm could, however, continue into the late-night hours. skies overnight will be partially to mostly clear for a few spots with temperatures falling into the middle 70s by tuesday morning.during the day tuesday a frontal boundary will be entering and moving through the area throughout the course of the day. this will initiate more thunderstorms by late-morning to early afternoon along the frontal boundary. in general rain chances will be greater the further one is located to the south. we are still going with a 60% coverage of showers and storms tomorrow as the front should be able to tap into the heat and surface moisture. the impacts associated with storms will remain the same: heavy rainfall, lightning, isolated damaging wind gusts, and perhaps some isolated small hail as well. by the early to mid-evening the front should be mostly through or just south our area. across the northern counties of our area some ever so slightly cooler but mainly drier air will push across the tennessee border. this drier air will allow some spots in extreme northeastern mississippi to get a bit cooler overnight. wednesday appears to be somewhat more tolerable when it comes to the heat, thanks to the reduced humidity. it won't be a huge drop, but perhaps a bit noticeable as temperatures will start out in the lower 70s with some in the upper 60s. through the day, we'll still see abundant sunshine with highs in the lower 90s. but with lower humidity, heat index values should be more into the mid-90s rather than 100s. only a very slim chance of an isolated shower will be possible. we'll start out relatively cool early thursday morning as well. but still, it'll be mild with temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. we'll see the humidity gradually return during the day, bumping our rain chances up a bit more. highs climb into the lower 90s with heat index values into the upper 90s to lower 100s. heat and humidity builds a lot more into friday afternoon with highs in the mid-90s and heat index values well into the 100s. scattered storms will be likely. and these will follow us into the weekend
