recent trends with conditions and new incoming data. one of those changes is that additional showers and storms are anticipated to develop across portions of northeast mississippi this afternoon, and the latest thinking suggests that these showers and storms could develop a little sooner than initially forecast. thus, heat advisories across much of the area have been canceled for today. despite this fact, however, a few isolated locations may still briefly satisfy the criteria for being under an excessive heat advisory as the afternoon continues. basically, it will still be hot and humid this afternoon, but some additional showers and storms may make stressful heat conditions a bit more limited in duration and coverage. as the afternoon progresses a few outflow boundaries are still present across portions of northeast mississippi. these boundaries will serve as favored spots for more showers and storms to develop within the next few hours. while storms in general are not anticipated to be severe today, a few storms could be strong and perhaps even briefly severe in nature.primary impacts associated with storms today will be: lightning, heavy rainfall that could lead to some isolated localized instances of flash flooding, and perhaps some isolated damaging gusts of wind. later in the night, slightly cooler, less humid air makes its way into the area--especially into our northern counties. wednesday
