good evening... i'm tanya good evening... i'm tanya good evening... i'm tanya the weekend is here. with many planning outdoor activities but everyone's looking toward the sky here's matt lob-hawn with whats going on with the weather right now. and that breaking news is out of starkville. fire and hazmat crews respond to a gasoline leak at but everyone's looking toward the sky here's matt lob-hawn with whats going on with the weather right now. and that breaking news is out of starkville. fire and hazmat crews respond to a gasoline leak at convenience store in starkville... this is at the sprintmart on highway 12 west..... wtva's kayla thompson is in starkville now and joins us with what we know. i'm here in starkville where a gas leak happened at the this gas station this is what we do know at 1 o'clock today the oktibbhea county ema received a call about a possible gas leak that could be seen in a ditch. once notified the fire department arrived with a tanker. a hazmat team was also present. crews will be here to clean any debris and remove any hazard from the gas. right now there are no safety concerns for people who live in the area. as we get more information on this gas leak we'll report it to you live in starkville kayla thompson wtva nine news we have new information in the case of the two people found dead inside a home in pontotoc. it was last friday the sheriff's department was called to the home on toxish road for a welfare check that's when they found the bodies of 49 year old edward byron conner and a unidentified female. both were take to the jackson area for an official autopsy. sheriff leo mask shares with us the latest on the investigation. " we are running down all of our leads we have a lot of people calling in in talking to us right now i cannot say what we are doing at this point in time." if you have any information about that can help them solve this crime, call the pontotoc county sheriff's office. there's new information on that kidnapping in northwest alabama we told you about thursday. that man arrested is officially charged with attempted murder and theft of property. marshall gray is accused of abducting a woman at knifepoint and then stabbing her. the brazen attack happened wednesday in marion county while the woman was shopping lamar county sheriff hal allred said gray drove the woman to the sulligent area where she was able to escape. he then drove into monroe county but without the woman. gray was finally arrested in lamar county. the sheriff says gray wasn't given a bond since he was just released from prison a week ago. a noxubee county fugitive could return to mississippi as early as monday. amber lynn boyd appeared before a memphis judge this morning. at that hearing, boyd waived her right to an extradition hearing. boyd was wanted out of noxubee county for aggravated assault. she is accused of luring a man a week ago to a highway, who was shot at multiple times. sheriff terry grassere hopes to have boyd in custody by monday evening. a man from alabama is charged in tishomingo county with bringing drugs into a jail... the sheriff's department says timothy thompson was arrested june first at a checkpoint for a suspended license... thompson is accused of hiding the pills and then trying to throw them away but got caught by a corrections officer... he is officially charged with felony introduction of narcotics into a correctional facility... a korean war veteran killed during the conflict has been laid to rest julius e. "junior" mckinney was born in brilliant alabama in 1927. he joined the army at age 21. he was later deployed to korea where he fought in the battle at the chosin reservoir in 1950. he was later unaccounted for and was declared missing in action. but family members never gave up the search for his remains. and in march of this year the u.s. army confirmed bone findings for mckinney. the patriot guard motorcycle organization picked his remains up from the airport in memphis before he was finally laid to rest in the national cemetery in corinth this afternoon. mckinney received the purple heart, combat infantryman's badge ,korean service medal, united nations medal and the national defense service medal. a federal grand jury indicts a corinth woman. leslie marie roach is accused of stealing mail and receiving stolen mail federal prosecutors say the crimes happened during the month of february. roach is expected to be arraigned on the charge next week. also in federal court news, a memphis man gets two years in federal prison. mario. collins was found guilty in december for trafficking a victim fromgeorgiato tennessee and ultimately tooxford for commercial sex purposes. back in april, oxford police responded to an oxford motel they found collins and his accomplice paulette clayton. both were arrested the officersalso founda female victim inside the motel. last week, clayton was sentenced to threeyears' probationfor her role in the case. a mississippi federal judge shuts down a pharmaceutical company in ripley. this after the food and drug administration filed a complaint about insanitary conditions at delta pharma. the fda asking for a permanent injunction against the ripley company and its owners in us district court in oxford. delta pharma is accused of distributing potentially dangerous drugs and making medicine in what an insanitary facility. us judge neal biggers ordered the injunction against delta pharma today. if you haveambitions for a career in state law enforcement you only have until midnight to get an application in for the upcoming mississippi highway patrol cadet class. about 60 new troopers graduated from this class back in march. the new additions put the total number of troopers statewide at 520.... but officials say that's still short of the number of the 650 officers needed. the applicants who are accepted in the school charged with 17 counts of first degree murder in the february shooting at majory stoneman douglas high school his attorneys arguing cruz's statements could cause significant trauma to the community.
