northeast was scheduled to start its baseball season this past tuesday, but rain moved their opener to this afternoon. the tigers are hosting calhoun out of alabama. the visiting warhawks won the first game of the doubleheader, 19-7. richy harrelson trying to bounce back in game two. tigers were leading, one- nothing, in the bottom of the third. tucker childers (ripley) trying to add to that lead with a shot deep to center. but it's caught for the third out of the inning. the warhawks would take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth. cooper cox, also of ripley, making his collegiate debut. cox with the strikeout for out number two. then, cox forces a groundout to get out of the frame. northeast would rally to win game two, 5-4, to earn a doubleheader split. just up the street, northeast's softball team hosting motlow state in its weather-delayed season opener. the tigers were down, three- nothing, in game one. the bucs trying to add to that lead, but anna kate webb (corinth) with the nice snag to end the frame. northeast responds in the bottom of the inning. shaquera wilson is the first batter, and the columbus product sends that one deep to right. solo homer gets the tigers on the board, and it's 3-1. three batters later, one on for caleigh wallace, and she hits a two-run homer to tie the game at three. however, motlow state would rally to win game one, 8-7. northeast comes back to win game two by the final of 7-4. after receiving
