this week we told you about a high speed chase that led to a crash between a pontotoc officer and former nba player. that crash actually happened just feet away from a families home while they were sleeping. wtva's symone woolridge has the story... "when we looked outside and the police car was right outside of our house and had scraped a tree that was right next to our desk we were so shocked." annice simmonsshows me the tree damage in her yard.. after a pick up truck and pontotoc police car collided justfeet away from her and her husbands home. "the car stopped right here." an officer attempted to pull over former nba player timothy quarterman who was driving over the speed limit near mcdonald road. but quarterman did not stop.. the pursuit lasted about 10 minutes and other officers got involved. the pursuit ended though.. like this.. the driver of the truck and a pontotocpolice officer both collided and hit a pole.. after the driver tried to run the officer off of the road. that's when they bothlanded in simmons's yard. "so shocked.. to see that it was so close to us and the police car could've gone right into our house." luckily though.. no one was hurt. the pontotoc police chief said the officer involved was shaken up.. as for quarterman ..he was charged withaggravated assault and felony fleeing.
