Former USM standout signs pro hoops contract

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WTVA/USM Athletics) - Former Southern Miss forward Daveon Boardingham has signed a professional contract with the Plymouth Raiders of the British Basketball League.

Boardingham averaged 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds last year while helping the Golden Eagles to a 29-7 record, a Conference USA regular season title and their second straight berth in the NIT Quarterfinals. He was sixth in Conference USA in field goal percentage, connecting on 57.8-percent from the floor, and 12th in blocks (1.0). The Newark, N.J., native had 19 double-figure scoring games. He led the team in scoring eight times and in rebounding six times.

For his career, Boardingham average 9.5 points and 4.4 rebounds. He is fourth in Southern Miss history in field goal percentage, connecting on 57.5-percent from the field, while recording 81 blocks, good for 11th in school history.

The Raiders finished the 2013-14 season 14-19 and in ninth-place in the BBL.
