OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA/Ole Miss Athletics) - The Ole Miss women's basketball team self-imposed a one-year postseason ban on Friday, stemming from impermissible recruiting contacts and academic misconduct committed by members of the staff. Those staff members, which include assistant coach Kenya Landers and director of basketball operations Michael Landers, were fired in late-October.
Head coach Adrian Wiggins was removed from his position and later fired with cause.
In a release given to the media before the Lady Rebels' season-opener against Southeastern Louisiana and initially reported by the Oxford Eagle, the school detailed the self-imposed ban.
"The ban includes the Southeastern Conference Tournament and any and all post-season competition and will be a part of other yet to be determined self-imposed penalties. With the investigation ongoing, the details of the additional penalties will be announced at the appropriate time."
Brett Frank is the acting head coach for Ole Miss.
