TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Collegiate Baseball's preseason Top 40 rankings were announced on Thursday, and Mississippi State and Ole Miss are both in the top 25 spots.
The Bulldogs find themselves at No. 13, while the Rebels come in at No. 25.
MSU finished the 2012 season with a (40-24) record and won the SEC Tournament. It's the highest preseason ranking for Mississippi State by Collegiate Baseball since MSU was tabbed 11th in the 2003 survey.
The Diamond Dogs open their season with a 19-game homestand, starting with Portland on February 15th.
Like Mississippi State, Ole Miss made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year. Ole Miss went (37-26) in 2012.
The Rebels open their season on February 15th against TCU. The Horned Frogs knocked out Ole Miss in last year's NCAA Tournament.
SEC teams dominate the top part of the rankings, as Southeastern Conference teams hold three of the top four spots and five of the top eight.
Arkansas is the preseason No. 1, with the ACC's North Carolina at No. 2 and Vanderbilt ranked No. 3.
