BRADENTON, Fla. (WTVA/AP) - Former Ole Miss Rebel Alex Presley has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis to start the 2013 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Wednesday.
The Pirates' opening-day left fielder and leadoff hitter last season, was optioned to Indianapolis. Presley hit .311 in spring training but has one option remaining. The Pirates kept outfielder Jose Tabata, who also struggled last season but who is out of options.
Presley hit just .237 during the 2012 season, but is a career .260 hitter. In 175 career Major League games, the former Rebel has 14 home runs, 45 RBI and 54 career extra-base hits (152 career hits).
