CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVA) - Former Mississippi State pitcher Paul Maholm announced on Twitter late Monday night that he had signed with the Chicago Cubs.
Maholm has spent his entire six-year career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has a career record of 53-73 with a 4.36 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
The former Diamond Dawg went 6-14 in 2011 for Pittsburgh set career marks in ERA (3.66) and WHIP (1.29) for seasons with at least 50 innings pitched.
Maholm was a three-year letterman with Mississippi State and is a native of Greenwood, Miss.
The team did not immediately confirm the signing, which Maholm announced on his Twitter page.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported earlier on Monday that the Cubs were close to finalizing a deal for the lefty.
