STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA/MSU Athletics) – Mississippi State coach Rick Ray announced Saturday afternoon that junior guard Jalen Steele has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

The suspension is effective immediately, and Steele didn’t make the trip to Gainesville for the Bulldogs’ game against No. 2 Florida. Only eight players dressed for MSU for Saturday's contest.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native has appeared in 13 games this season, starting 11. He missed eight games after fracturing his wrist against Florida Atlantic, and he’s currently averaging 9.5 points.

MSU went (3-5) during the eight games that Steele missed with the wrist injury (Nov. 19-Dec. 22).

The team's release says that there will not be any further comment from the team on the suspension.
