LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVA/PaulHornungAward.com) - Mississippi State running back LaDarius Perkins was named to the 2013 Paul Hornung Award Watch List on Friday.
The senior from Greenville, Miss., is one of nine SEC players and 44 players nationwide to be included on the list.
The Paul Hornung Award, now in its fourth season, is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.
The 2013 Watch List was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on a combination of 2012 statistics, career performance and expectations heading into the 2013 season.
Perkins joins Trey Burton and Loucheiz Purifoy (Florida), Odell Beckham, Jr. (LSU), Bruce Ellington (South Carolina), Christion Jones (Alabama), Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M), Malcolm Mitchell (Georgia), and Marcus Murphy (Missouri) as the nine SEC players on the list.
Perkins led MSU in rushing in 2012, carrying the ball 205 times and running for 1024 yards with eight touchdowns.
In addition to contributing to the Bulldogs' rushing attack, Perkins also caught 19 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns and returned 16 kickoffs for 325 yards in 2012.
