TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi State relief pitcher Chad Girodo announced on Twitter on Friday that he has signed a contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Girodo was a ninth round pick (265th overall) of the Blue Jays in the 2013 MLB Draft last month.

The lefty led MSU in earned run average in 2013, posting a microscopic 1.36 ERA in 36 appearances. Girodo also posted a (9-1) record and struck out a whopping 82 batters in 59.2 innings pitched.

The senior from Hartselle, Ala., shined brightest for Mississippi State during the Diamond Dogs' run to Omaha, posting a (3-0) post-season record and striking out nine or more batters in four of his five NCAA Tournament appearances.
