STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA/MSU Athletics) — Mississippi State head soccer coach Neil Macdonald says he wants to take Bulldog soccer across the state this spring, and the trek starts Feb. 11 with a stop in Tupelo for an intrasquad scrimmage and a free clinic for youth players.

The event will be held at the Ballard Park Sportsplex, with State players and coaches hosting the free skills clinic (open to players ages 8-12) from 10 a.m.-noon. The first 50 players receive free Bulldog soccer T-shirts.

Following the clinic, Macdonald’s Mississippi State squad hits the field at 12:30 p.m. for the intrasquad scrimmage.

“We are very excited to be starting our spring schedule in Tupelo,” Macdonald said. “Tupelo is a city that is very passionate about soccer, and we are very grateful for the support they have shown our program and the University over the years. We want to show Tupelo what Mississippi State soccer is about, and it will also be a great chance for us to give back to their outstanding soccer community.”

Mississippi State returns 10 players who drew 10 or more starts from last season’s Bulldog squad that claimed its most SEC wins since 2004 and upset two ranked foes for the first time since 2003.

State brings back its top two goal-scorers in Elisabeth Sullivan and Jasmine Simmons, and Skylar Rosson returns in goal after leading the SEC in saves a year ago.
