KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WTVA) - The rosters for the 2012 Major League Baseball All Star Game were released on Sunday. One former Mississippi State Bulldog and one former Ole Miss Rebel made the National League team.
Former Ole Miss Rebel Lance Lynn was named to the pitching staff for the NL. Lynn is (10-4) in 2012 with a 3.62 ERA for the St. Louis Cardinals.
This is the first full season for Lynn in the Majors after appearing in 18 games and making 2 starts for St. Louis last year.
Former Mississippi State Bulldog Jonathan Papelbon will join Lynn on the National League pitching staff. Papelbon signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in the offseason and has converted 18 of 19 save opportunities with Philadelphia. However, his 3.02 ERA is the 2nd worst of his career.
This will be Papelbon's 5th All-Star Game appearance and first as a member of the the National League.
The San Francisco Giants have three players in the starting lineup for the National League, tying them with the American League's New York Yankees and Texas Rangers for the most in baseball.
