Contractor selected for stadium expansion

SYLMAR, Cal. (WTVA) -- The contract to expand Davis Wade Stadium has been awarded.

Tutor Perini Corporation announced Tuesday its subidiary, Anderson Companies Harrell Contracting Group, was selected as the general contractor for the $62.6 million dollar expansion.

The north end zone addition will increase the stadium's capacity to 61,337.

The project includes the addition of 7,076 grandstand seats, 1,155 Scoreboard Club seats, 236 loge seats, 22 traditional suites with a total of 288 seats, and 60 field-level suite seats.

The work alson includes elevators, restrooms, concession areas, and a completely new, west-side concourse.

It will also include in the north end zone is a non-seated, field level premium area, The Gridiron, which will provide club-like amenities to any season ticket holder who buys a membership, regardless of that person's stadium seat location.

The visiting team locker room will also be relocated to the north end zone addition, allowing the game day recruiting center to expand in its current location.

Work is scheduled to begin immediately, and is expected to be completed by the start of the 2014 football season.
