FULTON, Miss. (WTVA/ICC Athletics) - Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced early Friday morning that the Indians will host Rend Lake Community College in a Sunday doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. at Roy Cresap Field.
“We look forward to the opportunity to play a team that we wouldn’t typically get a chance to schedule,” said Collier. “Our original plans for the weekend fell through and we really appreciation those guys stepping up at the last second to be able to play this weekend.”
The Indians (3-5, 0-0 MACJC North) were originally scheduled to play Arkansas Baptist College and No. 13 Parkland College in Little Rock on Saturday.
Rend Lake College (1-3) is located in Ina, Ill., and is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. They have won three Region 24 Championship, their most recent coming in 2008, and is the home of former MLB pitcher and College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Jim Abbott.
The Warriors are in the middle of southeastern swing of their schedule playing a three-day, six-game tilt in New Orleans, LA before adding the Indians to their three-day, six-game tour through North Mississippi.
