RIDGELAND, Miss. (WTVA) - Two area high school softball teams captured state championships on Saturday.
Hamilton swept Stringer 6-0 and 10-0 to claim the Class 1A state title. The Lady Lions won last year's 2A title.
Meanwhile, Baldwyn swept East Webster 8-4 and 6-1 to claim this year's Class 2A state crown. It's the Lady Bearcats' first state title.
Choctaw Central swept Nettleton 14-4 and 12-3 to win the 3A title, while Newton County swept Amory 12-8 and 8-0 to win the 4A title.
Neshoba Central swept Wayne County 10-8 and 10-3 to win the 5A-6A title.
