TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The Tupelo Public School District Board of Trustees will approve the hiring of Andy Schoggin as the district's athletic director during their board meeting Tuesday.
Schoggin comes to Tupelo from Senatobia, where he served as principal of the junior and senior high schools the past two years.
Tupelo school officials say during Schoggin's time in Senatobia, both schools saw increased graduation rates, ACT scores, and passing percentages on standardized tests.
He was also instrumental in implementing an athletic and coaching evaluation process and worked on long-range plans to upgrade facilities and increase coaching supplements.
Schoggin also worked as a principal and assistant football coach at Horn Lake.
Tupelo Superintendent Dr. Gearl Loden says Schoggin is regarded as a quality administrator and was highly recommended for the job.
He will take over the post on July 1.
