TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA/MPB) - As many high school football teams throughout the state start the playoffs while the rest get ready for the final week of the regular season, the Mississippi Public Broadcasters Top 25 rankings were released on Tuesday.
Picayune (5A) received 23 first place votes and are ranked No. 1 in the latest rankings. Noxubee County (4A) received five first place votes to come in second.
Petal is the highest-ranked team from 6A, placing third in the rankings. South Panola (6A), Olive Branch (6A) and West Point (5A) are ranked Nos. 4-6.
Bassfield is the highest-ranked 2A school at No. 7, Hazlehurst is the highest-ranked from 3A at No. 13 and no 1A school ranks in the Top 25.
Jackson Prep (AAA-1) is the highest-ranked private school at No. 10.
