It's another exciting week of high school football in north Mississippi, and we've got a packed lineup for you as always. WTVA's Friday Night Fever videographers (including Jim Holder and myself) will be at a total of 13 games on Friday night.
Jim and I organize what we calls "runs" - the sets of games that each videographer shoots - early in the week so that Fridays can go as smoothly as possible.
My run this week features games in three different counties. I'll start my night in Pontotoc County for North Pontotoc's home game against Choctaw County. Right from there, it's straight north on Hwy 15 to Union County where New Albany hosts Pontotoc. My final stop is back in Lee County for Saltillo's game against Itawamba AHS.
This week's Game of the Week is an exciting Lee County rivalry game - Tupelo at Shannon. The Red Raiders are (1-0) while the Golden Wave are (2-0). I spoke with Tupelo's first-year head coach Trent Hammond and a couple Golden Wave players on Thursday, and they say that this is always a big game.
We'll have highlights from those four games, plus nine others (including Mantachie/South Pontotoc, "The A Game" Aberdeen/Amory, Starkville/West Point, and more).
Be sure to catch Friday Night Fever at 10:15pm on WTVA and ABC-WTVA and 11:00pm on WLOV. Don't forget, you can also catch both shows streaming LIVE on the WTVA News app for iPhone and iPad and on your computer or laptop at WTVA.com.
