(WTVA) — We are finding out more about the man Oxford police have charged with murder in the deaths of his mother and his 12-year-old half brother.
At one time, Regis Mister worked as a deputy for the Yalobusha County Sheriff's Department.
"While employed here, Regis was a good deputy," Sheriff Lance Humphreys wrote in an email.
Humphreys says Mister was assigned to the Water Valley School District as a school resource officer.
It's the same district that employed Carol Gary as an elementary school principal.
Gary and her son, Patrick Gary Jr., were found dead in their home Friday morning.
"This tragedy is a shock to the deputies and myself that worked with him," said Humphreys.
According to the sheriff, Mister was placed on unpaid administrative leave in August due to a personnel matter and relieved of duty in August due to misuse of the county's Fuelman gas card.
