(WTVA) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol says none of the 11 taken to a hospital after a prison van crash in Yalobusha County suffered life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 55 south of Batesville.

Trooper Ray Hall says it appears a private prison transport van was struck from behind by a car on the southbound side of the interstate.

Eight inmates, two guards and the driver of the van were taken to the hospital in Batesville.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and did not go to the hospital.
