OAKLAND, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Transportation has closed a bridge on Highway 51 in Yalobusha County.
Officials say the bridge is located three miles south of the Highway 32 intersection near the town of Oakland.
MDOT officials say an inspection showed signs of possible movement in some of the beams.
The closure will allow for further inspection and necessary corrective action.
Officials say the bridge will be closed for about a week while the repairs are made.
Drivers are encouraged to use Interstate 55 to travel through the area while the bridge is closed.
Warning signs are being put to inform motorists.
