WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WTVA) -- We have an update today on the investigation into malnourished horses in Yalobusha County.

A judge has granted an order to allow In Defense of Animals to seize 17 animals from a pasture on County Road 225.

IDA operates the Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada and had been working for the last few weeks to make sure the animals were being fed.

Officials say at one time there were 26 horses on the property, but some had died because of their conditions.

This morning, IDA began the process of removing the animals and taking them to other locations where they will continue their recovery.

The animal rescue group says it will seek legal custody of the herd and pursue prosecution for their neglect.
