MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTVA) -- One local electric power association will receive loans and grants for workforce training.

The U. S. Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday funding for a 10,860 square foot workforce education building for the East Mississippi Electric Power Association.

The electric cooperative provides power in several central Mississippi counties, including Winston County.

Officials say a $1 million and $300,000 grant will help with the construction of the facility at the Jones County Junior College campus in Stonewall.

The funding was among projects in 11 states announced Tuesday.
