LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians Police Department is investigating the weekend death of a two-year-old boy in southern Winston County.

Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory says he received a call around 2:15 p.m. Saturday to respond to the Winston Medical Center in Louisville.

He says the child had been brought to the emergency room at the hospital after he was found unresponsive in a car at a home on Murry Fulton Road near Nanih Waiya.

Gregory says several children were at the home and the boy apparently crawled into the car during a game of hide-and-seek.

He says the child was in the car for nearly an hour before the parents realized he was in there.

Gregory says the home is on the Crystal Ridge Reservation and the investigation was turned over to tribal authorities.

An autopsy was performed Monday, but the results have not been released.
