WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Transportation will dedicate a section of Highway 82 in memory of Eupora police officer Keith Crenshaw.

Crenshaw was killed while trying to assist with the pursuit of bank robbery suspects on October 23, 2013.

He was hit by the getaway vehicle after deploying spike strips in an attempt to puncture the tires.

Highway 82 through the Eupora area will be named in his honor.

The Mississippi Legislature passed a bill to add the memorial to the stretch of highway.

MDOT will post and maintain signs bearing the designation.

The dedication ceremony will take place on July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center on W. Fox Avenue in Eupora.
