EUPORA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Investigators say the shooting death of a man Saturday night in Webster County was self-defense.

Sheriff Tim Mitchell says Aubrey Joseph Myers, 29, of Starkville was at his parent's home on Clarkson Road when the shooting occured around 7:30 p.m.

Mitchell says Myers got into an altercation with his mother and father.

He says Myers reached for a small caliber pistol his father kept in his back pocket, but the father managed to pull the gun and shot Myers twice.

He died at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

Mitchell says the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and his department worked jointly on the investigation.
