EUPORA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Flames erupting from a Eupora church kept firefighters busy until daylight Saturday morning.

Eupora Fire Chief Richard Love said his department was paged at 4:03 a.m. and the blaze had already burned through the roof of Victory Full Gospel Baptist Church by the time trucks began arriving.

Love said Walthall Volunteer Fire Department provided backup at the scene.

Firefighters battled the blaze for three hours.

Love said residents who lived near the church told him a lightning strike started the fire.

Officials have declared the building a total loss.

No injuries were reported from the incident.
