EUPORA, Miss. (WTVA) -- Do you live in a town that could use a face lift?

In 2001, that very feeling would lead to revitalization projects in Eupora that continue to this day.

A number of buildings in the historic downtown are serving new purposes.

Eupora-based architect Belinda Stewart says restoration has become a passion for scores of residents.

Old buildings have been converted into a restaurant, art gallery, architecture business and dance studio among others.

Stewart says the town lost a number of industrial jobs in years past.

That could have proved devastating to the downtown, but the locals would not let that happen.

"It's been very exciting to be here right on the street side watching it and being a part of it and helping work with all the great folks to bring about what we've been able to do," architect Belinda Stewart said.

Projects also include the restoration of the Eupora Depot and city park.
