NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Prosecutors in Union County say they are looking into false pretense allegations against an elected county official.
District Attorney Ben Creekmore tells WTVA.com Coroner Mark Golding is the subject of the investigation.
Creekmore would not go into details about the investigation. However, he did say it did not involve embezzlement.
He adds the state auditor's office was involved.
A spokesperson for State Auditor Stacy Pickering says the office does not comment on ongoing investigations.
Golding recently lost the election for New Albany police chief.
