TORRENCE, Cal. (WTVA) -- The next generation of the Toyota Corolla was unveiled during a ceremony in California last night.
The 2014 model is the 11th generation for the compact vehicle Toyota has built for nearly five decades.
Toyota officials say the lastest upgrades include a longer and wider body and changes designed to improve highway fuel economy.
The longer body style will allow for more leg room for rear-seat passengers.
The latest version comes in an L, LE, LE Eco, and S edition.
Toyota officials say the new model will be built at 16 plants, including the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi facility in Blue Springs.
The first vehicles are expected to role off the assembly line in a couple of months.
