NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County is hosting a Healthy Kids Camp all week long.

Children ages 6-12 are learning about what it takes to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The camp focuses on nutrition, exercise and how the children can incorporate these tools into their daily routine, while making it fun.

"So many of them have Wii games, gameboys and iPods and they watch tv and we want them to try and realize...there are more things for them to do other than just those indoor activities. Even if you are inside you can do exercises indoors and make it fun," said Crystal McBrayer the Community and Occupational Health Coordinator for Baptist.

Activities also include educational speeches. Some members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol stopped by to teach the children about seatbelt safety.

The children will also lean about a variety of healthy foods they should eat each day.

"It helps me work out like I don't usually get to do and it's really fun for everybody," said Anniston Hodges a member of the Healthy Kids Camp.
