NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Authorities found a truck driver dead in the cab of his 18-wheeler Sunday afternoon.

The vehicle had been parked at a Pilot service station for an undetermined amount of time, according to police.

Dispatcher Jeff Staggs said the man's trucking company contacted Pilot and said they hadn't heard from the trucker in a few days. Afterward, an employee notified New Albany police and an officer found the individual inside the cab just after noon Sunday.

Staggs said the man's name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.

Staggs said they don't see any evidence of foul play at this point, but the autopsy results may yield more clues.
