NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - A Union County man faces drug charges after he was arrested following a short police chase.
Sheriff Jimmy Edwards says Joseph Lane Williams, 27, of the Jericho community faces other charges in the incident.
Edwards says a deputy notice a car parked in the roadway, and when he turned to check on it, the person sped away.
After a brief pursuit, Williams was arrested.
Edwards says deputies found 12 baggies of the drug "ICE", a form of crystal methamphetamine, and prescription medication in the vehicle.
Williams is charged with possession of methamhetamine with intent to distribute, possession of schedule three and four narcotics, possession of beer, DUI, and failure to stop for blue lights.
Edwards says they believe Williams is a major supplier of drugs in northeastern Union County.
Bond was set at $25,000, but Williams remains in jail on a hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
