NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- All northern troopers were on duty the past two days as winter weather rolled into Mississippi.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says troopers responded to 363 service calls during the first part of the week.
This includes Starkville, Greenwood, Batesville and New Albany Districts.
"We used all the resources available and made sure we responded to each call quickly and efficiently," said Capt. Chad Moore, Troop F Commander. "We prepared for this storm and made sure public safety would be our top priority."
MHP says the majority of the calls came from the New Albany district where 124 service calls were made.
Icy road conditions were responsible for two fatal accidents that occurred on Tuesday in the Greenwood and Starkville districts.
MHP says troopers worked around the clock, worked overtime, and had troopers from other parts of the state brought in to help provide assistance during the storm.
