NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Many kids all across north Mississippi woke up to snow in their yards and a day off from school Tuesday.
Many of them spent their day doing the usual snow day activities; from snowball fights to making snow angels.
The kids said they all thought the same thing when they heard snow was in the forecast.
"It's amazing," New Albany resident Logan Henry said. "We mostly never have snow. This is about the second time I've ever been able to play in it."
Since this type of weather is so rare everyone was sure to be outside despite the cold.
"I've played traveling soccer in like 14 degree weather, so this is okay to me," New Albany resident Avery Grace Shaw said.
Unfortunately, there wasn't much snow to go around.
"I like to build snowmen and stuff but it's not deep enough to do that, but it's just fun to have snowball fights," New Albany resident Liam Neely said.
All in all, these kids said the best part of the entire day is the fact that they didn't have classes.
"I like being out of school," New Albany resident Hunter Berryman said. "I did not want to go to school at all. I had a whole bunch of tests."
They also said they hope there will be more winter weather so they can spend the day playing tomorrow too.
"[I like playing in the snow] way better, I'd rather do this everyday than be at school," Henry said.
